Electronic Lien and Title Print Titles

Once a North Carolina lien has been satisfied (paid off), the electronic lien will be released by the lienholder within the North Carolina ELT system. A lienholder with a North Carolina e-title may request a printed paper title from the North Carolina DMV at any time through the North Carolina ELT system (there is no fee for a printed title request). By default (and automatically), each North Carolina electronic title gets printed at the time of releasing an electronic lien.

Each request for a printed title requires a digital signature and confirmation to ensure that electronic titles don't get printed accidentally. If you give employees access to your North Carolina ELT account, you can restrict their ability to request printed titles.
